Cake Knife Set with Sharpening Steel

This knife set was originally owned by a master baker J McWalter Esq who ran a bakery in Cromac Street, Belfast. The set speaks of the pride artisan bakers will have taken in their work. One of Mr McWalter's employees, Sam Wilson, left his bakery in 1950 to take up a position in the Belfast Bakery School at Belfast Municipal College. Mr McWalter presented him with the knife set as a momento of his time with the firm. The contributor currently runs a bakery in Brunsick Street and has decided to present this knife set to the Ulster Museum.
