This is a tweed flatcap which belonged to Edith Bowman's grandfather, who passed away a few years ago. Edith describes the flatcap as being his "emblem", he was never without one. And she still wears it regularly.
The flatcap is also a very British fashion icon. It's an object that related to a particular era, and for Edith's grandfather it was both a sign of dressing up, but also vital for keeping one's head warm in a Scottish seaside town!
