I was given the Boatswain's Call by my Grandpa, Nigel, who was in the Royal Navy. He worked on a ship called HMS Hampshire. He was given it by Lord Mountbatten.
A Boatswain's Call is used to pipe orders on a boat. It can be heard over the sound of bad weather and the noise of a ship because it has a high pitch. It has been an very important way of giving orders on a ship for a long time. It is still used today and is also used for ceremonies.
