This small porcelain vase or bottle has glass fused onto the side of it. This fusing was caused by the blast of the atomic bomb used on Hiroshima in Japan. The explosion killed 70,000 people, more than the toll of Britons killed by German bombing in six years of war. Many Sapper (Royal Engineer equivillant to Private) POWs brought back Japanese trophies or relics on their return to Britain.
