Ballet to Remember, Maria Militsi

'Ballet to Remember' a series by Maria Militsi

This series by made by Maria Militsi between 2008 and 2010 and was acquired by the Crafts Council Collection in 2010.

This group of works was inspired by Felicity and Edna Deane's Ballet to Remember book published in 1944 demonstrating a variety of ballet poses.

Militsi collects objects that have been lost by the owner or that no longer function as they once did. The poses from have been recreated using the found objects and by grafting on crafted 18ct gold ballet shoes.
