"One of the buggers was going to cut my bloody head off with a knife about 9 feet long what they take their own peoples heads off with but I damn soon hop out of the way when he swing that bloody knife. At the same time his eyes spotted one of our chaps with a wrist watch on so he took that and forgot about my head and a damn good job for this lad else I should have been cold meat by now"
"Well that lot went through all our clothes but there wasn't anything left for the buggers (so) they took all our overcoats and blankets and some of them wanted our boots. Well, this went on till 2 oclock when we was all got fed up so we all went out off the hours (?) and was going to try and get away over the back wall but has soon has a couple of us had a hop over the wall when a couple of soldiers rush us back to the house again and when we got their a crowd came out of the the house with a bunch of keys and ask us whos it was. A chap name of Legge said it was his so they made him go inside the house to unlock the trunks but they would not unlock them has the keys belong to the lockers aboard."
