Framed Illuminated Scroll

On October 12 2008 the town of Wootton Bassett in Wiltshire was honoured with an Appreciation Day Parade organised by RAF Lyneham. All three services were represented. A Hercules from RAF Lyneham and a C17 from RAF Brize Norton provided the crowds with spectacular flypasts and the Commander in Chief Air Command, Air Chief Marshal Sir Clive Loader, presented the townspeople with an illuminated scroll in recognition of the respect shown for repatriated servicemen and women.
The Mayor of Wootton Bassett, Councillor Mike Leighfield was presented with the signed and framed scroll at a special presentation on 9 April 2009. Replica scrolls were then presented by the Mayor to the Wootton Bassett Branch of the Royal British Legion, Wiltshire Police and Fire Service and RAF Lyneham, all of whom contribute significantly to repatriations. Representatives from Land and Fleet HQs were also in attendance at the presentation and the Station Commander from RAF Lyneham spoke of his gratitude in receiving the replica scroll on behalf of all the Armed Services.
