Modern Scrap Sculpture

This is a modern day garden sculpture. Rather than being made from marble it is made from rusty welded brake plates from crashed cars. The materials have all come from a local scrap yard. The parts are likely to be around twenty years old. Made by garden sculptural designer Martin Smale.

These are clutch mechanisms, not brake plates. When the footis pressed on to the vehicle's clutch pedal the centre of each of the 15 radial pieces moves to release the clutch plate which is attached to the transmission shaft. Nothing to do with the braking system.
