This Buddah is made of rosewood and shows a buddah holding a scroll and trampling on the serpent of discord. My father's family were involved in the establishment of rubber plantations in Malaya in the late 19th century, and brought this back as a momento of their time there. It shows how the British colonialists were influenced by the culture of the places they lived; and how this culture became part of British life from then on.
