Enham Industries Catalogue

This is a catalogue for the Enham Village Centres basketry workshop. The Village Centres Council was set up in 1918 for the rehabilitation of disabled ex-servicemen and their re-integration into work. Having purchased a sight just north of Andover the Enham centre grew from strength to strength with the addition of cottage accommodation, treatment centres and workshops. One of the most successful workshops was basketry (pictured in the bottom right, 1919) which gained a reputation for quality workmanship.

This object demonstrates the efforts to deal with the large numbers of wounded from the First World War and an attempt to get them back into work. Enham proved highly successful and went on to help the wounded of the Second World War, being gifted the title Enham-Alamein, and is still going strong as a charity for the disabled.
