This American walnut table 'Anne' was made by Gareth Neal in 2008 and acquired by the Crafts Council Collection in 2009.
The table was made a pivotal point in Neal's career as he set up his workshop in Hackney Wick and started exploring the potential of 3D software in designing furniture.
The table was designed on a computer programme, cut by CNC router machine but was finished by hand. Neal alludes to furniture making of past centuries with the outline of a 1730 Queen Anne-style side table just visible in the legs.
