Live and Kicking was a staple of Saturday morning television during the 1990s.

The show launched on 2 October 1993 as the successor to Going Live! It featured music, games, phone-ins and comedic antics with a live studio audience who were very much part of the show.

At its peak in 1996, under new presenters Zoe Ball and Jamie Theakston, the show regularly had 2.5 million viewers. Here are some clips that will remind you why Live and Kicking was worth getting up for.

2. Kids asked the toughest questions

Live and Kicking attracted the biggest pop stars of the day and in addition to performing on the show, they would sit in the hot seat where the viewers at home and the kids in the studio audience could ask the questions. Look out for a young Daniel Radcliffe in this compilation.

3. It featured Mr Blobby

Keeping things locked firmly in the 90s, Mr Blobby appeared regularly on the show alongside an often-exasperated Jamie Theakston in the critically acclaimed segment known as 鈥楤lob-a-job鈥.

4. It was definitely LIVE!

Not all guests thrived at the 9am start time. Notoriously, New Kids on The Block sabotaged scripted links during a memorably awkward appearance.

Host Andi Peters later called them a 鈥渘ightmare鈥 and said they were his worst ever guests on the show.

You can enjoy this segment (through your fingers) with Joey McIntyre and Danny Wood joining Andi Peters to announce some competition winners.

5. It featured stars of the future鈥 KICKING

Live & Kicking wasn鈥檛 just all about celebrities. Many of the features were about the children who watched the show. This 13-year-old footballer may not have been famous then but Michael Carrick later went on to enjoy a successful career at Manchester United and England.
