Murdoch

Murdoch opened Indie Invasion

Indie Invasion

Birmingham's hottest indie talent played to a crowd of thousands at 'Indie Invasion', kicking off ArtsFest 2007.

Envy and Other Sins

Envy and Other Sins

Murdoch

Murdoch kicked off Indie Invasion with their own brand of Indie pop punk. A hardcore of fans were there clinging to the barriers ready to cheer them on as the Indie Invasion took hold. Despite being unsigned these lads have already made a name for themselves in this fair city. Energetic and punchy. Definitely ones to watch.

Misty's Big Adventure

Misty's Big Adventure

Envy & Other Sins

Up next were Envy & Other Sins, who weren't billed to be playing, but did a pretty fine job of filling in for a surprise headline act that didn't happen... These guys are tight and a a joy to watch.听 Pleasant enough catchy songs and mesmerising face fur.

Misty's Big Adventure

Misty's Big Adventure. Call them eclectic, eccentric, certainly experimental, but you know what, they're actually bang on target with their witty, observational lyrics, sung by maudlin frontman Grandmaster Gareth. Dancer Erotic Volvo hyped-up the crowd. Bizarre and totally lovely.

The Mexicolas

The Mexicolas

The Mexicolas

Bringing some real rock star posturing were The Mexicolas. Prize goes to them for hottest band of the night. Oh yes do they rock. Raw, passionate and moody.听 A darker and more grown-up edge to Indie Invasion. Awesome.

The Orange Lights

Softer and more laid-back The Orange Lights brought a more relaxed tone to the night. In indie music days of old they'd have been called 'shoe-gazers'. Beautiful, but come on, cheer up lads!

Elliot Minor

Elliot Minor

Elliot Minor

Now the night's real crowd pleasers were headliners Elliot Minor and the screaming audience all claimed to have heard their heroes through the wonder of MySpace. This classically trained band are musically stunning and amazing to watch. Like choirboys gone bad. Very bad.
