Fiddle
In Scottish music, the violin is referred to as the fiddle.
The violin was introduced to Scotland from England in the late 1600s. It soon became a popular instrument with the working class, who referred to it as the fiddle.
The fiddle is a very versatile instrument and is frequently played in folk groups, Celtic rock bands, larger fiddle orchestras, as well as being played solo.
The fiddle often plays slow, Expressive of the performer or composers thoughts and feelings melodies and is accompanied by a piano A repeated musical phrase, usually used as an accompaniment. The piano plays the bass note on the beat followed by the full chord off the beat.
