Creative Commons licences

Creative Commons licences refine copyright. They allow the copyright owner to say exactly what other people can and can鈥檛 do with or to their work.

They help copyright owners share their work while keeping the copyright. For example, a Creative Commons licence might say that other people can copy and distribute the copyright owner鈥檚 work, if they give them credit.

There are a number of Creative Commons licences. The four licences in the table below are commonly used.
