A demonstration of how to measure the air temperature using a thermometer. There are temperature differences between day and night, and the temperature varies between shade and full sunshine. We can describe the temperature as being hot, mild, chilly or freezing.

Students could conduct an experiment to find the warmest and coolest places around the school. They could make predictions before going outside to measure the temperatures. Were their predictions correct? Students could record their findings in a bar graph. They could also investigate if the temperature changes through the day.
