Mexican inspired dress

Having been given the theme of Mexico, I've researched the country and from this discovered an indigenous ethnic group of Western Central Mexico called The Huichol. This group have retained much of their original culture including art methods. They produce beaded art, often showing animals. Using glass or plastic beads, they press these into wooden shapes covered in beeswax. I have taken inspiration from these pieces in the colours and mediums used. The pieces are always bold and brightly coloured and each show meaningful symbols. I have therefore designed heavily beaded leggings to accompany the dress which has a beaded neck and beaded chains flowing from the neck. The beads are small glass beads to give a beautiful reflection of light and a glow similar to that of the Mexican sun. I have kept the shape of the dress quite plain due to the vast embellishment. I wanted to show a 'sleakness' within this design such as that Williamson adopts in his. Underneath the beading around the neckline, there is also some batik-ing using the beeswax the beads are usually set into, as the resister. The dress has an invisible zip down the side to allow ease when putting on/taking off the dress.
