I chose a bright dominating yellow not only because of its significance in a typical Mexican landscape, but due to Mexico's history in the corn industry. The turquoise pattern was chosen to contrast the yellow and was inspired by the piece of Mexican jewellery shown. The inspiration for the sleeves came from Matthew's often use of a complimenting jacket and from the style of traditional Mexican dresses. I chose a low v back to create elegance in the dress and used an open front to express the idea of freedom through movement.
