Title: La Moderno China Poblana

This design is inspired by the spirit and dress of traditional La China Poblana (the chinese pueblan) women in Mexican history. Their vibrant, loose blouses and layered, frilled skirts were considered very risque at the time. They did not wear corsets or make-up like other women, but were natural in their loveliness. Frills, layers and pleats from traditional festival costume are combined with Charro inspired gold, brocade and shoulder details. The vibrant colours are inspired by Mexican textiles and Matthew Williamson's collections. Hot coloured satin corresponds to current trends for jewel colours and high-shine effects. Delicate pleats and collar are ladylike, the look predicted to take over from the current 'tough' style. The bow neckpiece, as seen on Charro costume, is made up of handmade Aztec dolls to show the strong Mexican family values and cultural history.
