My dress design inspired by Mexico

My inspiration for my dress came from the Mexican culture and Matthew Williamson's collections. Matthew Williamson inspired my design by the shape and use of detailing on his garments. The shape was inspired by one of his designs in the Spring/Summer collection. This along with the Mexican traditional dresses worn at the, Cinco de Mayo' (Mexican tradition to celebrate Independence Day) inspired my design.I also took inspiration from handmade artisan jewelerry created by Mexicans which inspired my pattern. This would be decorated in a range of beads, inspired by the fantastic beading in the 07 collection. The colour of my dress would be a two-toned blue and green tint, this i have taken inspiration from Mexican landscape scenes. The materials of my dress would be very natural as the artisans in Mexico used gold and copper in their jewelerry designs, the dress would be made from a silk overlay and a cotton underlay.
