I decided to focus on cacti because that is what I first thought of when I thought about hot Mexico. I also looked at traditional dress and saw a lot of bright colours especially pink which is why I chose the cacti with the pink flowers to reflect the feminine idea of a dress along with the bright colours of Mexico, and because they make the dress so much more delicate. The stems should be thick and stable but can be bent into shape; wiring within the stem could help to keep the dress shape. To contrast the sharp spikes on the cacti the stems should be covered with green shades of thick silk, chiffon and organza the ridged edge parts of the stems should be either hand stitched in a blanket stitch style with embroidery thread or machine edges with an interesting pattern, the spikes to hold there shape but not to hurt the model could either be made from plastic or beads on wire. The pink flowers can be made from a mixture of pink acetate, organza, chiffon, silk taffetas to hold the flower shape and some beads.
