My inspiration came from people, culture and religion. I decided of the Virgin of Guadalupe to be at front of my dress because it is Mexico's most beloved religious and cultural image. The black metallic colour of dress was inspired by obsidian which is a type of naturally-occurring glass formed as an extrusive igneous rock. Obsidian was produced in ancient Mexico. Colourful flounces were inspired by a typical Mexican folk dance called Folklorico. Overhanging beads give the impression of sombrero. The dress is made of silk which is a symbol of extravagance. Sleeves are made of tulle in orange colour (connected with sunny land) which is a part of modern fashion. Flounces are made of moleskin. The picture of Virgin of Guadalupe is hand-made from many different materials.
