Title: Disguised

by Emily from West Yorkshire | in writing, poetry

Nobody can see behind my mask,
My mask that seems to in happiness bask.

The only thing that is behind,
Is a heavily damaged piece of mind.

My heart is empty, my heart is weak,
The words 'I love you' they are so weak.

They're never meant, whenever their said,
But make your heart drop like lead.

These meaningless words I hear them all the time,
My character holds back the tears, you'll never hear me whine.

But why, you say, must I be disguised?
To fit into two lines, I'll have to summarise,

My heart reached out and it was broken,
It's obvious, I may as swell have not spoken.

The tears sent me to my dreams,
Omens to the Big Guy's schemes.

Every day now is a masquerade ball,
Never will my disguise fall.

The person behind is now long gone.
My Mask Has Won.
