Title: Killer's End

by Adil from Scotland | in writing, fiction

In Glasgow, there lived a man called Rory McDougal. Rory was around 35 years old. He was five feet eight inches in height. He had short, spiky, jet-black hair and sea-blue eyes. He also had a slight tan. He was wearing a black and red striped t-shirt, blue jeans and a gold watch that his father had given him for his twentieth birthday, but most importantly, he was a skilled police officer. Rory was the type of man who would risk life and limb to catch the criminal.

One day, Rory received a letter from an old friend, asking him to come to South Africa to catch a serial killer. Rory thought long and hard and then he decided to go. He booked a flight for the ninth of June 2008.

He took out a suitcase and carefully began to pack. He took the lucky sunglasses that his grandfather handed him before he died

When he reached Johannesburg, he met an extremely tall and thin-looking man in a black suit. His shoes were covered with a weird red splatter. His hair was a reddish-brown colour and it was cut in a short back-and- sides style. His complexion was dark and his eyes green, so Rory assumed he was of mixed race.

'Hi Pal.' said the man looking serious.

'Sorry, but I am afraid I do not know who you are sir.' said Rory in a confused manner.

'You old fool, it's me, Chris Black, your friend from secondary school in Glasgow,' said the man with a slight giggle in his voice.

'MY GOD! Is that you Chris?' said Rory, shocked.

'Well it's not Santa Claus,' replied Chris as they walked to the parking lot.

'What have you been up to?' inquired Rory. By this time they had reached the car.

The traffic was horrific on the way to the hotel. When they arrived, Rory unpacked his bags and went for a shower. When he got changed they went for lunch to an Italian restaurant called Ilorenzo.

'How is life treating you?' enquired Rory.

'I have a wife and two sons and a daughter' said Chris as he bit into the first piece of pizza.

'What!' Rory exclaimed with his mouth full of pasta.

'Yeh, it's true. My wife is called Lora and my sons' names are Ross, who is five and Edward, who is two. My daughter Rose is ten.'

They realised that it was nearly closing time. Chris paid the bill and they left. Straight away they went to one of the crime scenes. It had not changed from the time of the murder. The house was dark and scary. Rory was ready for anything. When they went into the lounge they saw a man's dead body. It had a deep cut from the chest to just past the bellybutton. Rory could see this because the victim's t-shirt was cut in half. There was also a bullet wound in the forehead. Blood was all around the body.

The victim had jet-black hair and blue eyes. His skin tone was brown. He was wearing a green t-shirt and black jeans, but the most heinous thing of all was that the victim was only thirteen years old!!!

Chris started to cry.
'Did you know him Chris?' asked Rory.

'Yes he was my student.' replied Chris.

'Your student?' Rory asked, puzzled.

'Yes, you see I used to be a teacher and this boy was one of the best in the class.' said Chris sobbing.

'I'm so sorry Chris.' Rory replied.

'It's OK.' said Chris, wiping his tears with his hand.

Rory went into the bedroom where he found another body. He felt sick. Blood was all over the floor. He could feel the squelching of it going deep into the carpet. This body had its right arm off and a bullet wound on the left side of the head. The victim was a female. She had green eyes and long black hair. She was wearing a South African cricket t-shirt and blue shorts. The psychopathic murderer had written with the victim's blood on the wall,' I will not stop, no one knows me. W.W and I.W.'

'We need to catch this psychopath!!' exclaimed Rory.

'We will, we will.' said Chris, in a comforting voice. At that moment they saw a note book with a page folded up. They opened it up and it said, 'Must repay drug dealers or else!!'

'Bingo! We have a motive,' exclaimed Chris with joy. Rory was pleased for Chris, but felt he was jumping to conclusions. He felt he should slow down and think more about the letter.

'What is the motive, Chris?' asked Rory.

Chris was shocked by his question because he thought it was obvious. He explained the 'Or else' written in the note pad could only mean one thing and that was death to her and her son and here they were, murdered in their own home.

It was now clear that a vicious murderer was on the loose in Johannesburg. They had to catch him before he killed again.

They went to Chris's house for dinner. When they arrived a boy ran down the stairs and hugged Chris, who introduced his son to Rory.

'Hello there. Dad, everyone is in the kitchen,' explained Ross. They went to the kitchen and saw a lady cooking.

'Hello Lora this is Rory' said Chris.

'Dinner is ready!' yelled Lora, so that the two children who were sleeping in the next room would hear her. Everyone prepared to eat.

'Wait! First we must say Grace,' said Chris. However, just as he said that, a red light appeared on his forehead which he could not see.

'CHRIS! DUCK!!' roared Rory.

Chris ducked as a speeding bullet skimmed past his head.

'GET OUT OF THE HOUSE!' yelled Chris at the top of his voice. Everyone left the house except for Chris and Rory. Just then a man came into the house through the front door and walked into the dining-room. He had a prominent mark over his left eye. The man was aiming a gun at Chris's foot.

'Don't move or else you won't be able to for much longer' roared the man.

At that very moment Chris and Rory both pulled out guns and aimed them at the man's head. Their hearts were racing, sweat was falling from them but the man just had a sickening smug look on his face before he threw his guns to the floor.

'Who the devil are you?' screamed Chris and Rory in unison!!

'The name's William Write, gentlemen. My acquaintance followed you from the Restaurant. We had to kill you before you found out it was us who killed your student and his drug 'taking mother. No hard feelings!' scowled William.

Just then a knock came from to the door. Chris opened it and saw a woman he'd never seen before. She was holding Ross by his hair!

'LET HIM GO!!!' shouted Chris and Rory.

'This is my wife Elisabeth' said Will.

Just then, Ross stamped on Elisabeth's right foot. She was so shocked she let him escape and he ran straight to his father. This allowed Will to get his guns.

He aimed the gun at Chris.

'Stop' shouted Rory as he fired three slugs at Will. One bullet went zooming past Will's head. The other two went through his heart and killed him.

Elisabeth picked up Will's gun and shot herself in the head.

Lora came rushing back into the house. Ross and Lora hugged Chris.

Two months later, Rory moved to Johannesburg. He get a job as a police officer.
As for Chris and his family their strong friendship with Rory lives on.
