Title: The return of death

by Holly from Kent | in writing, fiction

The train was twenty -seven minutes late. I constantly searched the abandoned train track looking for the slightest sign of life. Crushed coke cans shimmered in the morning sun. Small weeds coiled around the rusted rails shuddered in the bitterly cold wind. Like a knife the wind stabbed my face. I pursed my dry lips in pain. I had been standing at the derelict train station for over forty minutes.

The graffiti infested walls crumbled and trembled in the sharp wind. The seats clumsily knocked over and covered in claret red paint. As I inspected the train station thoroughly the red liquid had been carelessly splattered up the walls and on the cold concrete floor. The ground was flooded with the red fluid which had a strong aroma of metal and rotting flesh. I slowly lifted my foot. The liquid patiently dripped of the sole of my trainer. I curiously looked down to have a closer look at the deep, red liquid. The strong smell of decaying meat overwhelmed my senses. I was going to throw up. As I bent down on all fours like a sick dog I realised the liquid was blood. Feeling revolted I looked down at my reflection in a puddle of blood. However there was a dark figure behind me in the reflection. Rapidly I turned round.
