Title: The Unknown Beach

by Jake from Dorset | in writing, fiction

Waves of solitude crashed against a shore of loneliness as I stumbled slowly across the soft, silky sand. The moonlight glistened as it danced across the layer of grated gold that covered the beach floor, and over my pale, lifeless face. As I destroyed the smooth surface of the beach floor with my footprints, a million sad stories and scarring memories ran through my head, leaving a trail of pain in its path. I gave a single, echoing sigh that drifted into the calm sea and was buried in the depths. As I drifted along, my lone form suddenly crumpled under the weight of the secrets and fell down into the welcoming sand. Teardrops, which told a million tales, splashed across the grainy floor, and each tear exploding told another unwanted chapter of my life. When I left, I left my secrets for the waves and sand to carry, passed on my burden to be whispered forever, but always hidden, and never understood. I left a part of myself.

I was inspired by a theme my mother gave me when writing stories. She mentioned a walk on a beach, and I suddenly remembered when I was walking along a beach in England, so i wrote this story.
