Usually, rendering seems to take forever and is a great time to crack open Itunes. However, rendering suddenly becomes a lot more exciting when you're editing at Platform, one of the best post-production houses in the UK on the same day as the England vs Slovenia match!! Every time you click the render button, you're switching to the machine next to you and turning up the sound to see if anything has happened (we were 10 seconds behind so the shouts from the pub down the road were really useful). I still can't believe John at Platform agreed to edit through the first half, that's devotion (and well above the call of duty, thanks again)! I've been editing a 30 second teaser trailer for The Cut for about three weeks now, and I'd brought it down to re-grade and dub the sound. The process of grading primarily involves adjusting the look and feel of the film, taking the off-line edit and making it more polished, and there's a lot you can do with it, as well as adjusting the sound and adding effects – making it suitable for broadcast (and extra shiny!). Looking forward to making some more short edits next month for The Cut team!
