Title: Growing up in society

by Lewis from North Yorkshire | in writing, poetry, confessional

Glancing All around through wondering "goggles".
Many dare whine for a simple why?.
Misconceptions all around.

Good? Bad? Evil? WHAT!

Them funny sounding words about her over there
make me no more aware than the sweets i darn't
share.

Time? Is it fast or slow? all that counts is the
5 on my big toe!

Gazing at the circus. Why are they shouting?
Why is mum crying?

The car with blue lights whizzes past my fairytale
castle, i think its something to do with next
door but one and something called "hassle"?

The strong water i see is dads and must not be touched?
so why does he and everytime get cuffed?

The sun fades away in the alley for some reason i
shouldnt play, at least untill that man allans away.

I remember being told not to put my hands in the plugs
as i will turn black and that isnt good?

The bang i hear deffons my ear but the eccentric
colours for some reason do not appear, mum is near,
with her own tomatoe sauce leaking on dads beers.

Nursery.Again. everyone is busy, painting there own
splatter resembling society matter.

You sit on a shelf with everything else, well done boy
you have finally recieved your sense of self!

The time has passed and you may "need" to look back and
at least try to find that the special "goggles" can easily
be re-attached.

This poem is a bout not understanding things as a child even when tragic events happen, as you grow society slowly but surely moulds you into an acceptable form where you are not shunned. The child grows up and looks back thinking there is a lot of criticisim in society i dont understand why, this makes the child think why should we understand it, we all live on the same planet.
