Aled
In November of last year in one of my (then) new appointment sessions with the Record Companies Parlaphone introduced me to this new singer 鈥淟ily鈥 who apparently had no connections to the music industry. But I loved the track (LDN).So much so I stuck her track on my .

Lily.jpgAlmost a year later, the 鈥淎llen鈥 part's come out as has her family tree, she has a hit single (Smile) under her belt and I was WELL excited to be meeting the Princess Chav herself.

If I was honest I personally wish things had gone a little better. I loved her. Despite being so different, I loved her in much the same way I love Madonna. The attitude, the honesty yet the clued up nature to the industry behind the scenes.

Asking Chris why he always talks about himself in the interview whilst on his turf is either brilliant / stupid / ballsy depending on which side of the fence you're on. I love a bit of attitude and I really thought the interview was about to get very fun when Chris moved the screens out of the way that was between them and started to lean onto the DJ desk in the way he does in order to look down on the guest and become more imposing. (Yes, I see that stance often). But he didn't shout. Lily didn't seem to follow it up and just seem to mumble her replies and the situation fizzled out.

Chris saved the interview and Lily responded with some fun one liners 鈥 of the sort that I saw for the 45 minutes I spent looking after her when she turned up early. Unfortunately for Lily, Rachel and Dave didn't recover from the moment and went on to give bad marks for the interview. Unfortunately for them, they didn't see Lily stood through the glass in the Live Lounger seething with anger! Already feeling betrayed by my 7/10 (which I admit was harsh) the 4 and 6.5 from Mr Comedy and Miss Producer pushed her over the edge. Egged on by a rebellious Ms Whiley who suggested she should come in to share her feedback all Jocelin could do as the person in charge of looking after our guest was to shout 鈥淒on't swear鈥 as Miss Allen legged it for the studio. Only Chris' love-in for the feisty one stopped her in her tracks and 鈥 to some extent 鈥 Chris helped smooth things over.

Bystanders in the corridor out of the building report that she left a tad upset which is a real shame. But not before planting a rumour around the building that she had recorded her own rating. Rating the team! Whenever and wherever that turns up it should be interesting. She spent some time in the studio with JK & Joel so maybe they have it?

I like the show as oppossed to your show but want hear the guests get a chance to answer and also want to hear the team more. I appreciate that you have a huge Ego but sometimes i just have to turn over and hope that you pause for breath or need a wee.

Stop sabotaging everybody elses moment with you lame jokes too.

The worls according to Chris Moyles is getting stale now.

Sometimes its not how good the show is, its how poor the competition is and what reception a radio can get.

Oh and by the way, i know you are desperate to get on TV but don't try so hard mate.

I have just been reading the other readers views on our new Chav princess Lily Allen!
Personally i think that if you are fortunate enough to be given the chance for a taste of fame, you should not spend the whole time with a huge chip on your shoulder (as she obviously has!) This must be her age making her act like a spoilt brat! I can even go as far as to say that she gives a bad name to Chavs (not usually possible!)And if our resident DJ Chris wants to talk about himself for the whole show, then i am listening!! (better than listening to Lily for one more second!)

Well done team for actually giving her truthful marks out of 10, not your fault she couldn't accept it!!!!

WELL DONE LILY, IF YOU ARE TRYING TO GET THE BUYING PUBLIC TO LOSE ALL INTEREST IN YOUR MEDEOCRE MUSIC YOU ARE GOING THE RIGHT WAY!!

KEEP ON WITH THE FAB SHOW CHRIS, YOU AND THE TEAM MAKE MY MORNINGS!

Good on Lily for standing up to Moyles and trying to make the interview more interesting and less about the DJ. Ok so Lily may be a little up-her-self too but the interview was about her not about Moyles (sorry Chris). As much as i like listening to the show, Chris does sometimes get carried away talking about himself and wanting to get his opinion across - well let's be blunt here..........sometimes we don't care what the DJ thinks. An example of this was the previous day when Ian Wright was on (who is a legend). At one point Chris seemed to shout Ian down to get a point across.....not a very nice thing to do to a guest wouldn't you say?
Keep up the good work (especially Comedy Dave) but take the time to listen to the people you are interviewing and let them speak.
The end.

i thought the interview was fantastic.sometimes chris does get to up himself. YES it's his show.and YES he is the star, but it's so refreshing for somebody to actually tell chris that he isn't the b all, and end all of radio ONE.people reading this blog might beg to differ, but he isn't the only reason radio one is successful.there are other DJS at radio one.so as for the people who think lily is up herself, you listen to somebody ten times as worse every morning mon-fri at 7 am.

oh...... chris moyles rocks !!!!

She's been on the scene 2 minutes and insulted half of celebdom and then she can't take it when not everybody loves her.Because of my age and my unfortunate situation of having to go to school, i did not here most of the interview (im listening to the podcast as i speak so hopefully there will be a bit on there) but from the few minutes i heard she was awful.
Get over yourself lilly before the u.k gets over you and you find youself out of a job

Lily Allen is a 'big character' is she? The dictionary definition for which should be 'to be up one's own back-side'. As for defending LA with "well Lima Gallagher does it" .... well, that MUST make it OK then, eh? Lily Allen is a little middle class white girl from a city in the South East of England. Her work and 'personality' is a pretence. Glad you described Lily as a 'pop' artist, she'd hate to think of herself as that, bet she thinks she a hard-edge hip-hop artist who 'tells it like it is and if you don't like it then **** off'. Get real, it's Pop-tat for kiddies! People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones Lil - and you live in a veritable Crystal Palace.

The Lily Allen interview wasn't a classic one for a few reasons. 1. it will have been the 1st time she had a radio interview before 10am. 2. Like Chris, she is a big character and when two big characters are in the same space things are bound to get frosty and 3. Lily dosen't have to change her attitude or personality to 'prolong her career'. It's worked for many people in the past. Liam Gallagher been slagging people off for nearly 13 years so can't Lily? I think the problem people might have is that Lily is a 'pop' artist so isn't allowed to be 'controversial' in today's OTT PC world. (All comments are welcome and I will respond to the most interesting 1s)

She was so disinterested and up herself, the only surprise was that you guys gave the chopsy little grump a whole 24 out of 40. If she's like this in all her interviews, she probably shouldn't give any, as that one did her more harm than good.

I cannot get over how banal and unattractive her attitude is.

I have only one thing to say to Lily Allen:

"you can't run with the big dogs if you piss like a puppy"

... so give up trying love

Very articulately put and well described, Aled (sorry, that sounds very patronising, it's not meant to!).

Didn't think she came across very well on-air, I have to say, but I did have to switch off around 8:40 to go into work!

She does come across a bit bolshy and her photo (in which she looks like Jade Goody's sister) does her no favours either!

She has to rank as one of the most obnoxious guests I've ever heard on the show. I was texting in, suggesting that Chris show her the hydraulic desk.

I can't help but think that with such an attitude, so early in her career, she'll not be around for long.

After that performance, let's hope so, eh?

Chris did a fantastic job interviewing her & the show was brilliant.

BTW, Lilly's picture on Chris's mini Radio 1 page says she is Ian Wright??? Think thats one for Hoop Dog ;)

Keep up the good work...

If you give it out then you should be able to take it back. I thought the interview could have really gone somewhere but Chris and the gang went a bit silent and seemed to sulk (especially Dave and Rachel). Fair play to Lily for trying to make it interesting. It died on it's arse started to bore me. Not good on the M6. I like to be entertained by guests. If I want to hear sucking up then I'll tune into Steve Wright and take a gun to my head.

Hi Aled,

You guys did a great job containing that girl. She should know that going on The Chris Moyles Show or any radio or tv show is an act of benefits going both ways.

To be honest, the interview today is quite dire and infuriating bar some of Chris' brilliance and the following salvaging "Teenage Dirtbag". Compared to the "honesty" we get from her, I'd have Ian Wright's warm-hearted passionate presence instead anytime.

Love you guys and a big hug to Dave xxx
