We are heading for 40,000

Eddie Mair | 07:24 UK time, Saturday, 19 May 2007

comments on the Blog. Anticipate we'll hit it sometime next week. Maybe we should do something special for 50,000. Like spend all our horse winnings...

This may have been the biggest week yet for the Blog. Is now the time to mention our plans to....

Maybe we'll wait for 50,000 to drop the big hint...

I do think it's time Eddie and the team let us in on their plans for a revamp. If, indeed, such plans really exist. I suspect it merely amounts to replacing the hamsters who drive the machinery. Or adding another wheel.

What a pity that the idea of having an open day in the PM office appears to have been brushed aside unacknowledged. After all, we helped them win that award, didn't we? ;o)

As DI Wyman suggested, perhaps for 50,000 (or even sometime over the summer if we can't wait that long!), it might be nice to arrange a real-life social (as opposed to socialising on The Beach or Jonnie's webcam chat) - a chance to put faces to the authors of the hundreds of random words of interactivity we type each day - and hear the unprocessed voices of Eric and Sequin.

Someone once mentioned a PM Roadshow - since it's a novel concept to Radio 4, see if your colleagues over at Radio 1 are planning to replace their roadshow truck any time soon, and offer to "dispose" of the old one. Alternatively, if push comes to shove, you can always beg/borrow an OB trailer from a local radio station...

Well, since we'll have to invite the rest of Fifi's band along (to entertain us), they'd probably find somewhere in Rutland most convenient...

Depending on where the greatest concentration of froggers live, somewhere in the Midlands might be useful as a convenient point to get to from anywhere - but then again, I wouldn't wish non-motorists the hell of changing trains at Birmingham New Street (a dismal and badly lit place half buried under a shopping centre and multi storey car park, with narrow stairs / escalators from platform level to concourse level).

As for worrking out when the blog hits 50K well Its some sort of exponential curve I think. Mile stones have been mentioned so if someone wants to trawl back through the blogs work it out the curve. I'm not going to, but the aim will be past 50K before we are on the Day 365 beach.

And Gillian again; crumbs, no, no suggestions yet; but I do think our friends in the PM team might, just might, lay on a small get-together, since this is an award-winning frogramme (that's a programme that interacts with a frog)
