His Edship is away today - so I'll do my best to fill his shoes. Nice to speak to you again.


I've been doing some filming in the House of Lords this week for a Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Parliament programme about the 50th anniversary of Life Peers. The authorities will only let you in for filming between 7 and 9am - during which time the cleaners are also hard at work. Strange to see that ornate Pugin-designed gold throne on which the Queen will read the Queen's Speech next month, being flicked over with a feather duster.
Just like any ordinary old chair!
