Weekend feedback
Another super busy sporting weekend and plenty of interesting feedback from you.
The Rugby World Cup kicked into gear on Saturday and Sunday with England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales picking up wins. For those disappointed that the tournament is not on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú TV, rest assured we are disappointed too, but bidding for sporting rights is a complex and competitive process and ITV remains the UK broadcaster of this event for the time being.
To compensate, we have really ramped up our radio and online coverage. As well as the extensive match coverage, many of you are enjoying the fans-eye view of our roving bloggers Tom and Ben, 5live are producing a regular podcast and then there's Dropclick, our interactive rugby knowledge game.
Some viewers in Scotland were confused that the entire England v Israel match was shown north of the border, while Scotland v Lithuania was shown only as highlights.
This has to do with live rights again and Sky had those for the Scotland game. As to why the England match was shown, (like Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Wales and Northern Ireland) are free to opt out of network programmes and do so regularly as you can see from looking at their schedules.
On Saturday, Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú One Scotland opted out at 2300 to bring highlights of Scotland v Lithuania to their audience. But they chose to stay with the network between 1630 and 1905 for the live coverage of England v Israel.
The Walker Cup golf coverage on Saturday cut out just before the conclusion on the 18th green - understandably upsetting those who had been following it all afternoon.
Interactive TV Editor Matt Millington explains: "Play at the Walker Cup had been scheduled to finish by 6pm, which would have allowed Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Two viewers to see the end of play. However, there was a considerable overrun because of slow play.
"Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Two was able to continue showing live golf until 6.10pm, when interactive coverage took over on satellite and cable, although not on Freeview where the interactive streams were already in use.
"Unfortunately, although we managed to extend the satellite link until 6.30pm we were unable to go past this time as the link had been pre-booked by another TV broadcaster, so we had to leave play as players approached the 18th green."
The US Open tennis, meanwhile, was not on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú TV.
Head of TV Sport Editorial Philip Bernie shed some light on the situation for those who missed .
"The Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú does in fact carry extensive coverage of the US Open on Five Live and Five Live Sports Extra - both the finals were live this weekend on Five Live," he said.
"On TV, Sky currently have the rights to the US Open; but the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú does have TV rights to the other three Grand Slams - the Australian and French Opens and of course Wimbledon, and extensive coverage of all three events from the centrepiece of our TV commitment to tennis."
