Feeling deeply let down by England. Again.Thought I'd come on the blog and take my frustrations out on you if that's okay.
I wish I could terminate my relationship with them and jump on the rugby bandwagon. Unfortunately it doesn't make the blood course through my veins in the same way.
I've just heard Steve McClaren say on the radio "Incredible - decisions swing games. I couldn't fault the players, there was nothing more I could ask of them". Apart from maybe Stevie G and Sol C scoring when they could have done. And Paul Robinson catching that ball instead of pushing it straight to the Russian bloke.
"It's out of our hands" he's just added. EXACTLY. Can you imagine if England don't qualify and Scotland do?
Anyway we're all Israel fans now.
And let's hope McClaren does better on Sunday...

Feeling just as sad, frustrated and downright disappointed as most England fans. WHY do we go 1 up and then withdraw into our own half??? The Italians used to do that, but they could defend. Dont blame Rooney for the pen (doesnt matter if it was in or out of area), why was he back there defending? Where was Lescott? or wasnt he supposed to be Left back? Never mind, lets sack the lot and start again. Having a Swedish wife is a nightmare (Sven this, Sven that) so I`m off to iron the Blue and Yellow flag and swallow my pride. Im sick of the english bleating on about how its there right to be in euro 08, there are other countries in the british isles and yes wales hasnt qualified, but there is others. All you hear is the english moaning about "how that wasnt a penalty" or" that should of stood, he wasnt off side". It is not your god given right to anywhere. Im a scotland fan, and as alec mcliesh said, the scottish peo;le didnt give scotland a hope in hell with the group of death, but we have a chance. And if we dont do it, we had a bloody good go at it, all you english stop moaning and just get om with it. Why do the media think that the be all and end all of life is supporting the overpaid and underperforming over hyped egotistical people who know little except kicking a bladder of air around a marked out pitch.

Watching the local U19 matches is becoming like watching the professionals .

Just heard on the radio that Wayne Rooney says we need to pray that the results go in favour of England in order that the team qualifies for the European Cup.

I was unable to watch the match yesterday so I listened to most of it on radio. I really wont know where to put myself if Scotland qualify and we do not.
It's the same old story again under Sven I believe the talk was we are good at Qualifying well mabe we can't even do that now, after all it is now in the hands of Israel.
We have literally loads of talent in the schools on the playing fields it's about time everyone got together and worked out a useable strategy for it instead of some high flying technical ideas that leave us in this mess.
Listened with the usual interest to the phone in this morning and it never ceases to amaze me the amount of English fans who want to see McLaren sacked.

I'm being honest - it will be a nightmare in my office if that happens ! Nicky C and Aasmah wouldn't stop going on about it ..If Scotland, England and N Ireland qualify however, that would simply be marvellous..

Then unless Russia beat Andorra by about 8 clear goals we will stumble over the quali line like we always do, totally undeserved as usual.
I also agree with one of your callers this morning that that would be the absolutely best time to sack McClown and give the job to the bloke who should have been appointed in the 1st place Guus Hiddink . Not only was he the best man for the job he actually wanted it as well but then as we know McClown was always Barwicks 1st choice.
It could be worse (although not much to be fair), I'm Welsh, and we haven't won anything for ages!
If England don't qualify and Scotland do , then i'll follow and support the Scots with as much enthusiasm as i would England .

You say Nicky and Aasmah 'wouldn't stop going on about it' if Scotland qualify and England fail.
Think about that on a far larger scale - with the entire Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú (television and radio) and the commercial stations joining in. Not to mention the tabloids - and you might have a bit of an idea how the Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish feel every time England play, never mind qualify.
And that is the simple single reason why normally friendly rational Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish end up cheering on any team other than England.
Oh and by the way I am Hamish's (and of course Rab's) brother
In the seventies and eighties, Scotland regularly qualified for World Cup Finals Competitions and England failed to do so on at least two of those occasions.
That so many people in England, including at the EBC, now don’t want Scotland to qualify should England fail to do so is self-evident.

At least people like me are consistent in our views. Scotland to beat Italy, Croatia to beat England (which they will) and Russia to beat Israel (more likely a draw).

Anyway point take about coverage of England, although 58 million people do live in England, and most of our listeners are English and er that's it.

I think you should check your figures!
Over 5 million live in Scotland, almost 3 million in Wales and over 1.5 million in Northern Ireland.
If you substract those numbers from the UK population, I think you will find that only 48-49 million in fact live in England!
Not much of a difference in sheer arrogance alone of course!

There is one more brother, Scott and a sister, Kirsty all member of the Scotland Supporters Club, but less vocal than Hamish and er Rab. We have all suffered for the name over the years. It took quite a while for my wife to change her name and my mother has reverted to her maiden name - Valentine.
Of course I know about the numbers/audience etc, but rational thought can go out of the window when you have suffered saturation coverage of Rooney's ankle, Gerrard v Lampard, 1966 etc
Incidentally we met in the main square in Nürnberg last year as I was in Germany working with Lee Sharpe. Maybe it was being away from the television, radio and newspaper coverage, but I managed to watch every England game there, staying neutral throughout and not cheering the opposition at all.
