I'm similarly sorry to hear you've been unwell but glad to hear the RAOK are still happening...can't wait to hear how it goes!
ne thing I'll be doing this week is giving away some sponge cakes to some neighbours of the church I'm linked with here in Northumberland. Ok so that's on Sunday afternoon and not Friday but as I've commented before my family and I do this kind of stuff pretty regularly as we believe it's the sort of thing we should do as folloewrs of jesus, and hey if you can't show some love and kindness at Christmas then when can you?!
Look forward to hearing how it goes on Friday, I'm actually speaking this sunday morning in church about Christmas, what's it all about...and may well give you and the show a mention!!

Victoria, here's my RAOK: Back in January 1990 I was working in Angoulême, France, in what was an unusually cold winter. One evening I was on my way home when I came across an old tramp trying to get warm in a bus shelter. Needless to say, he wasn't properly equipped and it was a seriously cold night. I went back to my flat and dug out a couple of spare blankets, returned to the bus shelter and handed them over - he was so grateful. We got talking and I asked him when he last ate: it was 36 hours before. I wandered down to the nearby Quick (French equivalent of Burger King) and got him a meal deal and a hot coffee. He was overcome, kept thanking me and saying God would reward me.
I left him there, feeling I had 'done my bit' and not knowing what more I could have done. After that I looked out for him around town, vowing that I would feed him whenever I could - but I never saw him again. I remember him from time to time and wonder what happened to him and if my RAOK helped him; but if not, it was still worth it because for that night he was able to feel that someone cared about him.
