Victoria Derbyshire | 18:37 UK time, Wednesday, 9 April 2008

Do you want to cut your weekly spending in half? (yes) Is it possible? (yes). Come on the show tomorrow and our experts will show you how. Please contact us NOW if you're interested.
I'm looking for a family who can talk on the radio about roughly how much your weekly budget is .... for food, bills, going out, transport, booze, entertainment, whatever. Our experts will tell you how to slash it in half.

Maybe if our politicians lived in the real world, paying their own living expenses they would have a better idea of the problems the rest of us face. I have just cancelled my Sky subscription, not an essential of course but we do love our sport as a family. We find it quite astonishing to think that we will still be paying Gordon Browns Sky subs. and his tv licence ! How on earth does he have the cheek to tell us to all be prudent but expect us the hard hit taxpayers to pay his bills. It also amazes me that MPs claim for their food !!!!!!!!! This is madness and I am shocked at how few people realise what is going on. IF you read this please don't read out my name I prefer to 'fume' in private.

I've got huge pot of cash waiting for the crash when I'll pile in and clean up. Not out of greed, but out of vengeance for all the banal, grubby conversations I've had to listen to about how much money people have made in property over the the last 10 years.

I can't help but delight in the panic of those who indulged in wild speculation, without regard for risk.

If for reasons of personal gain, one has budgeted without contingency for economic fluctuation - then thats gambling, pure and simple.

Worried about money ? just slightly ... I was made redundant on 31st March - I had 15 years service and worked part time following return to work after maternity - now to find another job to suit my domestic commitments means that I'm looking at jobs earning £6k a year - a significant drop from my previous salary.

I live in USA and take in a LOT of news from the UK. I watch Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú's Escape to the Country and such. I do not see nor understand how one can afford to live there at all. Can anyone explain to me how you afford a house that costs 5, 7 or up to 10 times the household gross annual income? My home here is about 1.5 to 2 times my annual income.

But, I can find much cheaper housing. MUCH. There are houses (single family, detached as you might call them) here that might need a little work, but can be had for $15,000. That would be the least expensive one could find. But how many houses does one need? I can find better houses for $30-50k, as well.

In or near our largest city in the state (about a million people) one can build an entirely new home, 1,200 sq ft, starting at around $90,000.

Divide that in HALF to get the british pounds price. So, you COULD potentially buy a home for 7,500 pounds. Easily find one for 20,000 pounds. And build a new one for 45,000 pounds.

If someone from the UK could sell their house and make a 100,000 - 200,000 pounds profit on it, move here and buy a home for 30,000 pounds, you'd be left with a ton of money. Let's say 150,000 pounds. That's $300,000 US and that's more than many people here could ever dream to SAVE/compile in their lives.

So, the afford ability of life is really a CHOICE, in my opinion.
