Today's reports that sickness levels among Flintshire Council staff have shot by 30 per cent and this has cost the authority and council taxpayers £2.3m this finanical year alone.
But what the figures can't reveal is why 41,750 days have been lost over the last nine months compared with 35,146 in whole of the previous year. Councillors are now seeking further explanation amid suggestions that staff morale is low.
