My news feeds are buzzing these days as they search the web 24/7 for me, searching for anything of local interest.

Looking back over the last few years, I've noticed a fascinating change - average local people - not your stereotypical protester - seem prepared to make a stand and to oppose local issues.

They've become empowered by new media, by technology and the way the web can bring it all together. Now, more than ever, you can get your voice heard! [Chief Constable is listening | Congestion on the agenda]

For some more recent examples, opponents of the A494 road widening scheme at Deeside have been fighting their campaign using a to keep their group informed and a account to highlight their concerns in film.

The same thing is starting to happen now with the opposing plans for landfill sites at Buckley.

And there are the local blogs; was set up to fight for traffic calming and has been keeping an eye on Tesco's effect on the town.

What next? Well, reading the blog of Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú colleague and industry specialist , technology is about to push things forward again with video phones able to stream live footage So, for example, you could be making a protest outside a Guildhall or County Hall - and streaming it live to the world.

See you on the internet!
