Why would Nasrallah concede now that he didn't want to combat Israel when Hezbollah's "war" is over? I would argue that Hezbollah won since it survived attacks from a superior military force while maintaining a steady barrage of rockets into Israel. Why muddy the analysis now?"

I dont think there will ever be lasting peace between Israel and Lebanon until the situation with the Golan Heights is resolved. Diplomatic talks between Syria and Israel were promising in the late 1990's, but the Israeli right is now unfortunately too intransigent to consider pursuing a lasting land-for-peace deal. But if there was a Syria-Israel peace, Hizbullah would melt away and the region would be much more secure."

The horrific immediate aftermath of the disaster was caused primarily because citizens could not trust the local and state government to protect their property. The misfortunate disorganization of the current clean-up further proves that the citizens cannot trust the federal government either".

One thing that Katrina showed is that Nature is much more powerful than the might of man despite his technology and preparedness. USA in this disaster was parallel with some third world countries who in such a disaster stand watching waiting for nature wrath to recede."

After 9/11 when Pres. Bush created the huge bureaucracy called Dept. of Homeland Security and placed FEMA in it, many of us foresaw the disastrous results it would have. Such a cumbersome bureaucracy is simply unable to act quickly and efficiently. A year after Katrina hit the Gulf states there are still many, many homeless eople;whereas, two days after the cease fire in Lebanon Hezbollah was handing out $12,000 to the families whose homes had been destroyed. FEMA needs to be made a separate federal agency."
