I live in Washington, D.C., in the USA, and love it here. My largest hobby outside of school is easily theater, for which I take acting, voice, and movement lessons weekly, in addition to rehearsals. I also enjoy Ultimate Frisbee, which I am honored to play for my school.
I found out about WHYS from my Advance Placement (AP) United States Government and Politics teacher, Julie Caccamise. She had a group of her students participate in one of their programs last fall, and I was one of them.
My only current job is occasional babysitting for neighbors and random odd jobs around the neighborhood -- everything from gardening to hanging pictures. I hope to get a part-time job now, as I am getting ready for college next fall.
So far, there's nothing I've not liked about WHYS, though I know nothing of their program save what I've participated in first hand. I do enjoy discussing issues with people from around the world, and think that it's a great opportunity for the world to really get a feel for how youth feel about what's going on in their lives and their world. So basically, I like that it exists at all.
I'm most interested in stories that everyone can relate to -- that is to say, the kind that, if talked about in an international setting, may inspire people like me to have a more active role in the global community. As it's becoming easier to use our talents and skills to make the world a better place, it is our responsibility to do so, and issues that strike at the hearts of everyone are the most likely to inspire such actions.
