We're live in Cleveland, Ohio - early thoughts
All this week WHYS is live from the US - starting out in Cleveland, Ohio. It's four years since the start of the Iraq conflict, and there are plenty of Iraq stories in the news. Would you like to hear a conversation between Americans and Iraqis? A debate about whether or not to impeach President Bush for leading the country into an illegal war? More about the crackdown in Zimbabwe? Or something completely different?
There were anti-war protests in cities across the US at the weekend to mark the Iraq invasion anniversary - and some counter pro-war demos too. But looking at it from London, it's striking that the anti-war demos in Spain were far larger than any of those in the US - so should we be talking about the failure of the anti-war camp to mobilise large numbers of protestors?
And on a related theme - there are increasing calls from grassroots Democrats and others for a debate on impeaching George W Bush - but the Democratic party leadership isn't keen on the idea. Is that lack of leadership one reason why the anti-war movement seems to lack focus? And should we hear the arguments and views on all sides of the impeachment debate?
Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú News is headlining a new survey of opinion among ordinary Iraqis. The results make grim reading, showing a big increase in support for attacks on coalition forces serving there and increasing pessimism about the prospects for the country.
Or we could talk about Zimbabwe some more. There were more beatings and arrests of prominent opposition figures over the weekend, and the MDC leader said the country is at a 'tipping-point'. Do you agree?
