WHYS in Africa

Richard Bowen | 20:00 UK time, Saturday, 12 May 2007

africa-map3203203.gifNot long now till WHYS embarks on it's biggest trip ever. We're off to East and West Africa for the first time in the programme's history. We're all hugely excited by the chance to meet some of you who listen in Africa and by the challenge of reflecting your lives and concerns to the rest of the world. There'll be seven shows from four countries in two weeks and, as always, we need your help.

Before I tell you how you can help here's where we'll be and and when...

nigflag26949.gif...First stop, the Nigerian capital, . We'll be doing two shows from here on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th May.

ghana-flag6969.gifThen, after a brief hop, skip and a jump we'll be in Ghana's largest city (oh yeah, and it's capital) , for an extravaganza on Friday 18th.

ugandan_flag6969.gifHaving caught our breath and battled through three sets of customs we'll be in (fingers crossed!) for two shows on Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd. Now, no promises but we're hoping to have the Ugandan President, with us to take your questions and discuss, among other things, the talk about an East African Union. If we do get the President on the programme, what do you want to ask him? What things do you think he needs to hear? Let us know and we'll put it to him.

kenya_flag6969.gifThe final leg of this journey takes us to . The last two shows will be broadcast to the world on Thursday 24th and Friday 25th May, thus ending what we hope will have been another successful, informative and energetic voyage into the lives of some of WHYS' most loyal listeners.

So, how can you help? Well, as always, you're the best guide to what we should be talking about. What do you want to hear from this trip? What are the issues that make you angry, excited or concerned? What questions do you want answered? What are the main issues, not just in the countries we're going to, but across the whole of Africa? It doesn't have to be serious politics; maybe it's some local issue you want the world to know about. Are you in Africa, have you been there? What did you make of it? Does it get a fair representation in the press?

Whatever you want to say, say it here.
