Top tips for getting your child started with ballet

  • Listen to music together and see if you can clap along to the beat. This will help your child recognise rhythm and begin to dance in time.

  • Move on to marching (or walking, skipping or running) in time to different types of music.

  • Learn the French names for some ballet moves and try them together. A pli茅聽is a good one to start with - just put your hands on your hips, point your feet outwards, and bend your knees.

  • A聽saut茅, or jump, is another easy move - simply bend your knees, jump and straighten up again.

  • Join in with your little one and copy their moves - they'll love it, and it's a huge boost for their self-confidence too.

  • Don't forget to have fun - remember your little one isn't going to be judging your dance skills!
