 |  | The Phoenix Initiative and artist Jochen Gerz are inviting the public to secure their place in Coventry's history in a striking new piece of public art.
You can earn yourself a free plaque commemorating a friendship, a marriage, a spiritual, hidden or open relationship.
Jochen is installing two new public artworks in Millennium Place, the Public Bench and the Future Monument.
The Public Bench

The Public Bench, a dramatic bench, 45 metres long sweeping round the north edge of Millennium Place, will be covered with plaques.
A sea of small plaques will be all over the concrete back of the bench and each will bear the names of pairs of Coventry people or visitors to the city.
The project aims to make people consider their own history. In applying for a plaque you are invited to contribute to the future monument by considering who are today's friends who were enemies of the past.
The organisers are looking for the names of nations who are nations of peace today considering the statement "history's enemies are modern friends" (The Financial Times, 29 May,1999).
How to get your name on a plaque
Application forms are available from the Phoenix Project Office, by email at the address on the left or by clicking on the pdf file link on the left.
Places are going fast, so have a think about which nation you now consider a friend and apply to get your name on a new Coventry monument.
About the Phoneix Initiative

The Phoenix Initiative is a 拢50m regeneration project around Priory Place in Coventry City Centre.
The multi-platform project involves archaeology, public artworks and the creation of new gardens, housing, shops and cafes.
The newly created area will be called Millennium Place and will provide a striking new context for the Museum of British Road Transport.
