The avaricious Earl of Leofric, Lady Godiva's hubby, is remembered for his high taxes and daring wife. But did you know that he even collected tax on manure? Presumably, Lady Godiva owed him a toll after her famous city tour on a horse!

Stratford-born Teletubby Po can speak Cantonese. Po sometimes sings this song: "Fi-dit, Fi-dit, Fi-dit" (fast) "Mar, Man, man!" (slow), which is an English transcription of Cantonese. Po can also count in Cantonese. "Ya, yi, sam, sae, mmm" (1,2,3, etc).

Outspoken Pop Idol judge Pete Waterman first learnt to speak his mind at the General Electric Company, where he became a trade union official at just 19. Of course at the same time he was a DJ at Coventry's Mr George's Nightclub in his spare time.

Leamington's parks played an important part in the World War II effort. Their luscious 100 year-old tennis lawns were ploughed in 1942 for the 'Dig for Victory' campaign. The lawns produced an ample crop of outdoor tomatoes.
