The story of Jaani Dushman- Ek Anokhi Kahani (meaning The Enemy- A Strange Tale) revolves around two lovers, Kapil (Munish) and Vasundhara (Manisha Koirala) who are deeply in love with each other.

One fine day, they accidentally disturb the meditation of a Hindu high priest who in turn curses the couple. What results next is the death of Vasundhara.
In order to invoke their love once again, the high priest informs Kapil to wait for Vasundhara's rebirth in the next age.
So the story shifts forward into the 21st Century where Vasundhara is now Divya a college student in love with Karan (Sunny Deol).

The horrific twist in this fictitious tale comes when Karan is away on business and Divya falls prey to the devious scheme of two fellow college students.
But Divya mistakenly thinks that her whole circle of friends is to be blamed for her plight.
Disturbed mentally by the incident, Divya commits suicide and her spirit joins forces with that of Kapil.
What follows is an action sequence of events along the lines of the Hollywood films, Anaconda, Mission Impossible, Terminator and The Matrix as Kapil takes revenge on behalf of Vasundhara.

Considering this film boasts an impressive star cast from the "best of Bollywood", they do not have enough scope to leave an impact on the screen.
It definitely belongs to Munish who proves that he can really act if given a better role. He excels in the fight sequences and does deliver his dialogue scenes with great ease and comfort.
Technically, Mr Kohli's film promises to be both exhilarating and interesting. He brings back standard trademarks of his earlier box office successes such as the snake which has the ability to change shape and an evil spirit.

Both of which are in his previous films such as Nagin and Jaani Dushman of the 1990s.
This latest venture does promise to spring a few surprises as far as special effects are concerned.
With a mega star cast of eleven in total, this expensive production is an action-packed fantasy pure Bollywood style.
