If you haven't been following the news for the past few months, you would have caught up with Jeremy Hardy's show.
The former Perrier Award winning comedian provided quite an extensive overview of recent topical debates with his performance at the Warwick Art's Centre on 3 October 2002.
After entering the stage he started as he meant to go on, apologising for there not being an American comedian to lead the show so he could sit at the back of the stage and applaud.
 There was no way that he was going to let John Major and Edwina Currie off the hook!

In addition to Bush and Blair, two obvious political characters to satirise, he had a pop at a whole host of people, organisations and ways we live today.
From the railways, where he envisaged the new tilting train doing wheelies on the current state of the tracks, to the Countryside Alliance having to come into the cities to hunt down foxes as their the only place where they now live!
He commented on how bad the Labour party are doing until he then reflected upon what many political commentators have considered that they are still no worse than the Tories at this moment in time.
Whilst discussing the merits of the Conservatives there was no way he was going to let John Major and Edwina Currie off the hook!

It was more than just politics that rattled Jeremy's cage. He talked about people going to leisure centres to unwind after working all week! Jeremy suggested that leisure centres should be for sitting on your bum watching cartoons.
If we're not going to leisure centres then it's places like IKEA, another place that causes a load of misery in people's lives. And then there was bonfire night. He commented that it is only in this country that we celebrate a failed revolution.
November the 5th is just an excuse for men to play with fire, a secret longing for the caveman days when we used fire to protect our clan.
After reeling through his lampoons, Jeremy often ended saying, "I don't know", something many of us may say to ourselves as we go through life as we try to rationalise it all.
They say life begins at 40 but I think it just takes you 40 years to realise it's already started.

Being 41, Jeremy looked back at that horrible time when he hit the big 40. His friends who were already 40 would comment on how nice it is, but Jeremy said he didn't fall for that one and suggested that it was only said in glee as he hit such a milestone. "They say life begins at 40 but I think it just takes you 40 years to realise it's already started", he surmised.
He was well received by the audience in a hall about three quarters full.
"He's warm and laconic at trying hard to please, with a touch of spice", was how one audience member, Mark Finnigan, aptly summed up his performance.

More comedy than you can shake a stick at
