 |  | Lee Mack at Warwick Arts Centre, reviewed by Paul Bradley from Coventry
The prospect of watching the BAFTA Award winner, British Comedy Award Nominee, Perrier Award Nominee and star of ITV1's "The Sketch Show", Lee Mack, was a tantalising prospect.
Although this was a lot to live up to, given that it was his last night of his two month tour, surely he'd not disappoint? Well....more about Lee in a moment.
Lee's support, Noel Britton, entered the stage with a large bag of props. Were the props going to be his shining glory or his safety net? Unfortunately it was the latter as is often the case with comedians with props.
Demonstrating his Banana Chopper was interesting but would have been more suited to the Shopping Channel.
The associated jokes he made only had a limited shelf life and I'm sure would go down well at any Christmas Party.
Ah well, we still had the star attraction to improve the evening, hadn't we?
Lee entered the stage to a very warm round of applause and launched with some fast paced gags, but it didn't take too long for his momentum to slide and he was left to start replying to the feedback of his audience.
Many comedians pull this off well but an over-reliance often detracts from the individual's banter and charm.
At first it was funny as several people were picked out (or on) and used as guinea pigs for Lee's jesting but it wasn't long before some of his jokes began to wear thin.
He did have his funny moments, especially when he asked the crowd to guess what job he used to do. One guy in front of us shouted out: "comedian".
Lee replied with: "Yes that's very good" and, "I haven't heard that one before", before removing his jacket and revealing a T-shirt, which read: "I bet some w**ker says comedian".
Being the last date of his tour on a cold December Sunday evening in front of the just over half-capacity crowd, Lee seemed demob happy before he started.
The performance seemed lacklustre, especially as a large part of his set depended on audience involvement.
He did say he'd be back in a new series of the Sketch Show next year. Let's hope he doesn't have to rely on the studio audience for his material then.
