Yeah I think Strachan should sue. 500,000 is it? Perfect reward for ending a 35 year top flight stay, spending millions that Gary Mac would walk on glass to get, on foriegn rubbish he never gave a chance.
Also, he played everybody out of position, never gave big Mo a chance, and continuously picked his golfing partners Williams and Telfer. Give him compensation. (Oh, incase you can't tell, I'm being sarcastic).

The headlines on Monday that Ruud Van Nistelrooy is to move to a salary of 拢72,000 per week is a slap in the face to all the fans who spend their hard-earned money on following football clubs. One cannot blame the players - we'd all like to jump on a gravy train of these proportions, but it is time for reality to return to these negotiations.
Salaries should be linked to league first of all, with a maximum wage according the league the team are appearing in. This would help with some of the problems when a club are relegated, their wage bill would automatically reduce - it may also inspire some passion in the players.
On top of this maximum wage would be performance bonuses, including achieving international status, loyalty bonuses, and cup appearances. Community work I would envisage as being expected as part of this package.
I recognise this brings new problems - how will clubs retain players when relegated ? What will protect players during illness, loss of form, financial problems at clubs? To combat this I would suggest that players are maintained on a rolling 3 year contract. Increments for loyalty would be automatically added to this annually, and this would protect the long-term injured players. I would also increase the minimum contribution to the PFA to 8% of the players salaries, as protection for those players who lose their position due to to injury, or clubs losing financial status.
I feel these measures would allow clubs to plan for their long term future - they would know the effect of promotion and relegation upon their finances, they would feel more secure in retaining the services of their stars, and prices to the fans could reflect the quality of the games on offer as I would also envisage a maximum admission charge, which would be standard for all league matches.

Strachan has no right to sue. He left the club in ruins, it's his fault we've got no money and that's why hes not been paid.
God help them at St Marys.

It's an outrage that Strachan thinks he should take the club to court. How much did he earn while he was running our club into the ground by buying a team of expensive misfits who had us relegated?
You'll get your money Gordon, but don't hold the club that you left broke to ransom.

About time City looked to playing Konic in a more definitive role in midfield coming forward. He would create havoc and, I'm sure, score more goals than any other city player. Just a thought.

michael baldwin does not know what he is talking about I think gary McAllister has done A great job with no money to buy with and having to sell players who could help get us back in to the top flight wear we belong.

I'd like to see McAllister promise to stop playing Mills as a lone striker when he gets back from injury. Whats that all about?

If I was Macca, I'd stop bringing in loan signings and let the youngsters have a go. Pipe, McSheffrey etc are great talents and really care about the club, something the likes of McMaster could never bring.

During Gary McAllister's final season as a player at Coventry, he was superb after 3 mediocre years. I believe he was cynically playing well (for a change) just to get a new contract.
Didn't he do well? Along came Liverpool to easily outbid the Sky Blues and get him on a free transfer. As we got relegated, he picked up 3 cup winners medals.
When the new chairman announced he was to return as manager, after treating us like that, I was sceptical. Another Gordon Strachan, treating us as a stepping stone to gain managerial experience, possibly at our expense again.
Having said that, I think he has done a brilliant job, particularly as he was forced to sell the remaining best players.
He is clearly a very good coach, with good coaching staff and good contacts to bring in fine young players. Under Strachan, the coaching staff left a lot to be desired. So good luck Gary, you have won round a cynic.

I would just like to complain on why the players are likely to reject a measly 12% wage cut, if they earn over 拢30,000 a year
I read that Keith O'Neil is the club's PFA representative (or something like that) and he is saying that the players cannot take this cut because not all of them are on high wages.
OK, fair deal, not all of the players can, but the club doesn't want them to. O'Neil himself is on 拢11,000 a week (+ a car!)! and he isn't even playing, so I think he should at least do his part for the club.
He also said how would the players face going home and telling their families of the wage cut. I couldn't believe it when he said that- I mean is he joking! A player will be on a minimum of 拢26,400 if they are the ones included in the cut.

Fingers crossed that the players accept the wage deferal because otherwise, City could be facing administration like Leicester.
A nightmare scenario that only takes people being sensible to avoid.

It's the fault of football clubs that they're in this state. The grossly inflated wages dished out in the Premiership have taken their toll and it's only a matter of time before all British clubs, apart from the "big five" will face serious, serious trouble.
Surely all players should accept pay cuts for the good of their clubs and to ensure they have a future. After all, if clubs go to the wall they may soon have no wages at all.

After Selling Magnus Hedman, David Thomson, Lee Hughes and Leting Gary Breen go, I can't see Coventry going up. Especially after losing 5-2 to Watford.

So, Thommo and Hughesy will be gone before the Forest game. We knew it was inevitable but it doesn't make the pill any sweeter to swallow, especially in Thommo's case.
The difference he makes, I reckon, could be the difference between automatic promotion and a play-off struggle. With the best will in the world, how could any of our youngsters - who I believe are among the most talented in the division and probably better than a lot of Premiership youth system products - have the same effect as him?
The main hope comes from Gary McSheffrey and whether Hughes is at the Baggies before Saturday or not, Macca jnr should be given a start. His holding play in the deep as well as his clinical finishing will give us a huge boost.
Incidentally - what a relief that Walsh has gone! What were they thinking of?!

I think that it's fantastic that Sky Blue fans can listen where ever they are in the UK through the CCFC web-site.
As I live in Leicestershire and am moving to Devon it means I can still follow the Sky Blues and listen to decent commentry! Keep up the good work.

I moved to the States in 1993. I was born and raised in Coventry and attended Longford Park Primary School.
I had a good friend, Martin Reeves. I recently learned that there is a Martin Reeves playing for Leicester City Football Club.
I was wondering if you could tell me if it's the same Martin Reeves.

Re: Mark's comments. Thompson is worth much more than 拢3m if you look at some of the prices of other players sold recently, but after last season who is going to pay anything reasonable for a bunch of under-achievers?

It now appears that the club still owe money to West Brom for Lee Hughes, when will it all end?
Many questions need to be answered by the current board as the football is really becoming a side issue.
If the club cannot sell its remaing assets for their "value" then where does it leave us as far as paying off our overdraft?
It is also apparent that the current market value of some of our players is wide of the Mark, Hedman 拢2 million? Thompson 拢3 million and Hughes 拢5 million, even though we don't own him!
The local council are also after a couple of million to help build some stadium as well. Its time for some real answers before it really is to late!

It's sad, but inevitable, that the likes of Thommo will be on their way out. We've always been a selling club but at least in the past we've had the money to at least try and make a fist of replacing our assets - with the vast exception of Bellamy replacing Keane!
What worries me is I can see all our quality heading out the door, leaving us with nothing in the tank, so even if we do go up this season we'll come straight back down.
Let's hope Macca can attract some experienced players on Bosman's and they can help develop the likes of Davenport and McSheffrey so we can do a Millwall in a couple of year's time.
Agree with Mark, by the way, it would be nice to have some more support next season. Where have all the "fans" from our days in the Premier gone?
Chris

The new season should see the last of our prized assets sold and the playing staff will be left to fight a hard battle to get the club back into the Premiership - the future of this club's big league expectations lie in their hands or feet.
If they fail, I see many years of lower division football and a once proud club, looking very sorry for itself, in an attempt to stay alive.
I for one wish them all the luck in the world and will be there whatever happens. I do hope many come along for the ride with me, you never know we just might have some fun this time around!

Agree about Hedman - he's got to go. Can't see any money being spent on transfers this summer - and who would want to come here anyway after last season?
Mark
Fillongley
I think Magnus Hedman has to be the first of the Exodus. He's not performed - nor wanted to perform - this season and his appearances in the World Cup should boost the price tag for City.
I reckon Thommo, Saffri and Hughes will be sacrificed for the cash, but Macca should do his best to keep hold of them.
It will be interesting to see who Macca brings in to replace the players who will inevitably be on their way. Winterburn may not be able to take the pace of the top flight, but he'd be brilliant for passing on experience to our talented youngsters.

Previous question: Is Gary McAllister the right man for City?
City are stuck between a rock and a hard place financially which is why they could not go for a big name manager.
I'm very excited about Gary Mac coming back to take over and now that it's done, I'll be backing him all the way and I WILL be renewing my season ticket.
Not all rookie managers are failures - It wasn't so long ago that Steve Bruce finished playing and he isn't doing a bad job up the road with the Brummies.

I for one will be renewing my season tickets next season as your club is for life and through thick or thin..we don't need fans who only want to see the big games...go and follow Man Utd if that's what you want

Gary McAllister would be the worst possible appointment. Many season ticket holders I know woud not renew if he was given the job. He has already coasted through all but his last season at the club in his previous association which ended with a total lack of loyalty, too.
It must be a manager with some experience but still with something to prove. Either Ray Graydon or Nigel Clough seem best to fit the bill.
