You really can't visit Warwick or the surrounding area without going to see the castle.
It's the town's most expensive attraction, but it's even larger, more varied and more entertaining than you might expect.
We love it!

For obvious reasons we haven't been able to get our huge tripod and camera up the towers and inside the dungeons, so instead we have a tour of the castle's beautiful grounds.
The castle is set in extensive grounds that straddle the river Avon, so many visitors enjoy a picnic or a countryside walk.

The beautifully proportioned conservatory, which acts as a focal point in the landscape, was built in 1786 by a local mason, William Eborall.
Inside it now has a number of very impressive plants that give it a tropical feel.
Directly in front of the conservatory is the peacock garden, designed by the Victorian landscape gardener Robert Marnock, and ideal for relaxing after running around the castle walls.

A bridge takes you from the castle across the Avon and onto an island.
In the 1890s, the island used to be inhabited by Japanese deer, Chinese geese, an emu, racoons, an ant bear and a baby elephant.
Now, it has an enjoyable nature trail, even though you usually just see ducks!
听I can tell you're keen to get inside the castle now!
As a guide, entrance is around 拢30 for a family of four (more for special events). For an adult it costs from 拢11-拢13 depending on the time of year.
