You've been gigging for some time now what was your most memorable?
I've had many memorable gigs but probably the one that stands
out is appearing with my old band "The Bully Wee Band" in front of 10,000 people on main stage one at the 1982 Cambridge Folk Festival - it was really scary! It was televised, it was sunny and it was something I had always wanted to do.

How do you rate Colin's music. Take a listen and then tell us what you think by

Which three words best describe your music?
Melodic, meaningful and mine!

Tell me about "Barney"...
"Barney" tells the story of a friend who went of to the Falklands conflict. Before he went he was a fairly ordinary 18 year old, but by the time he came back, not surprisingly, he'd changed somewhat. There was a suppressed violence underlying his smile and he ended up beating the living daylights out of a mutual friend. Hopefully the song comes across as being fairly sympathetic to Barney, who did get better by the way.

What do you think of the current music scene?
It's ok. The good stuff doesn't always get to number one, but then that's always been the case. I didn't feel it was my parents' place to criticise The Beatles, so let's allow the kids enjoyment of their music today.

And what about you, Colin?
Me? I've been a self-employed musician for 22 years. I was a founder member of the Celtic band "Bully Wee" in 1971 and, having toured Europe and America, pursued a solo career as singer/songwriter after the band split in 1983. In 1987 I became guitarist and vocalist for comedian Jim Davidson, touring with him whenever he decides to take a band on the road. I now live in Torquay working the pub, club and restaurant scene. I have my own small home studio in which I produced my own CD "No Choice For A Beggar"
.

Loves and hates.....?

My loves are my partner Deborah and the muso's luxury of taking 2 hours to get up in the morning! My pet hates are the ever-increasing trend there appears to be for the lack of respect for other people's property, the breakdown of moral fibre in Britain today - and beetroot!

Who's in your record collection?
The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Paul Simon, Capercaille, Eva Cassidy and Robbie Williams - to name but a few.

What's ahead for Colin Reece?
I've never really pursued the idea of selling my songs to others. I'm told I'm sitting on a goldmine, so perhaps it would be a good idea to see if I am.

And finally, what's the best and worst things about Devon?
Best - It's my home and it feels like it.
Worst - Seagull poo on my car each morning!
